Oh, Dear Lootius,
Belief is a fragile thing, and so is a promise. I promised to make this blog post, and no matter how the Universe turns, I’m a Nun of my words 😉 But let’s face it, belief is like Thrill Seeker Party Panties – sometimes they’re comfy, sometimes they’re tight, and sometimes they just disappears entirely when you need them the most! Maintaining faith or even questioning it? That’s a game we all play, and trust me, like the fallen angels from the film Dogma (1999), it’s easy to lose. Even God, in that movie, takes the form of a playful woman who treats life like one giant cosmic joke, smiling and nodding while we poor souls wonder if we’re just players in some divine loot pool.
Take Bethany, the last scion. Talk about getting thrust into a situation she didn’t sign up for! Like, one moment she’s chillin’, the next she’s on a quest to save all of humanity. And honestly, who hasn’t felt like that in Entropia? Wandering through virtual worlds, hoping Lootius showers us with love and golden, only to end up with … well, not quite what we prayed for! I mean, I swear I’ve offered more prayers on my sore knees to Lootius than I have requests for a refund from the loot pool. And yet, much like Bethany, I keep asking: Are we just wandering aimlessly in this crazy universe, or is there some hidden divine plan that’s keeping us going?
Then there’s Loki and Bartleby – the two fallen angels who just want to go home but end up throwing a divine tantrum. It’s a vibe. They start off with all this faith, trusting in God (or Lootius in our case), and then one bad day, one betrayal, and they’re like, “Screw it, we’re out!” Sound familiar? Because I’ve seen this “movie” before, except it’s in Entropia, and instead of angels, it’s us players throwing our arms in the air when Lootius deals us a bad hand – betrayed by the loot god, questioning everything, wondering if we’re just dancing to Lootius’ cosmic beat while she lounges somewhere on a cloud, sipping some 43% high-level liquor.
And here’s where our favorite slackers, Jay and Silent Bob, come in! Those two show up in Dogma like they wandered into the wrong universe but rolled with it anyway, though I personally missed the Fuck-song … kind of like listening to Rookie on a Saturday night.
But this is what we kinda all do in Entropia! We wander in, hoping for HoFs, ATHs and meaningful friendships and sometimes we end up questioning why we’re here, but heck, we stay for the laughs, the chaos, and the rare chance that maybe, just maybe, we’ll hit that sweet, sweet jackpot. Silent Bob doesn’t say much, but you know he’s got thoughts, just like we do when we’re pondering our next mob to kill or if we should open that sweet strongbox.
Losing faith can sting like a sharp slap on the cheek (unless you’re into those kind of things) – whether it’s in a friend, a god, or the system itself. It leaves us feeling raw, like Bethany when she questions her purpose as the last scion. It really feels like the end, doesn’t it? But as we’ve learned, endings are just tricky little beginnings wearing fancy disguises. Life (and loot) is like a rubber duck. Push it under, and POP! – it bounces right back up. Just when you think you’re sinking, you realize you’re floating along, a little squeakier, maybe a little wiser, but always ready for another round.
And about revenge … Sure, we all think about it now and then – giving Lootius a piece of our mind or side-eyeing that one person who wronged us. Just remember, everything comes in time, and life’s too short to hold a grudge. Sometimes you just gotta sit back and let karma (or the loot pool) do its thing. Because, trust me, Lootius never forgets … and she sees you! And while it’s tempting to throw a tantrum like Loki, deep down we know everything balances out. It’s just a matter of patience (and maybe a drink or two while we wait).
So when we face loss – whether it’s a broken friendship, a bad loot day, or life slapping us around – remember, like Bethany learned: Faith isn’t something we cling to; it’s something we rebuild. And every ending, every betrayal, just opens new doors, new paths. It’s a fresh start, even if it looks like the end of the road. Like in Dogma, when God heals the damage and smiles, knowing it’s all just a part of the plan.
So here’s to bouncing back, trusting in Lootius’ bigger plan (even when she’s got that cheeky grin), and knowing that sometimes, the wounds heal quicker than we expect. In the meantime, I’ll keep my faith in loot pools, rubber ducks, and the wild twists of both virtual and real worlds. And you might be surprised to find, that even the person you once thought was the weakest turn out to be far stronger than you ever imagined.
And hey, if things get tough, just remember: “In Loot We Trust!” And if Lootius doesn’t come through, well … just sing along with the ‘Fuck-song’ and kick back with Jay and Silent Bob for a good laugh 😉
Until next time!
