Dear Lootius,
I woke up this morning with a swirl in my head and steam in the air. And I don’t mean the kind that rises from the dance floor at Club NEVERDIE during a Saturday night live party. Nope, this is the real kind that signals major change. Entropia Universe will very very soon launch on Steam.
Steam. That mystical portal of endless gaming possibilities and the home to millions of players who haven’t yet been introduced to the joys of grinding, sweating, and looting their first mob in Entropia. It was just announced, and of course, half the Universe is already up in arms. As always. Because if there’s one thing more reliable than “bad loot”, it’s Entropians resisting change.
Let’s not pretend we didn’t see this coming. For years people have moaned about the lack of new players. Empty planets. Quiet societies. Ghost towns where once the local chat overflowed with talk and drama. And now when something finally happens – something huge – there are complaints again. I can almost hear Lootius laughing.
I totally get that change can be scary – especially for players been in game for 15+ years. But Entropia has always been about adaptation. We’re a Real Cash Economy in a virtual world where nothing is ever static. So why are we acting surprised that we need to evolve?
Steam isn’t just a marketing ploy but a gateway. A doorway to fresh eyes, fresh wallets, fresh souls to torment with Explosive Blueprint failures and noob shin guards. We need new people – new Lootians. Not just to populate the world, but to keep it alive financially.
New Experience for Newcomers
And it doesn’t stop there, because word is that MindArk is also working on a new starting experience for newcomers that will be smoother and more welcoming. If done right, it might mean fewer noobs rage-quitting because they couldn’t figure out how to use the game hud or accidentally TT’ed their new gun. We’ve all been there. Don’t lie.
Of course people raise concerns. Will new players understand the RCE model? Maybe not. Will some of them act like it’s just another loot-and-log-off game? Probably. Will we see more scammers and trolls? Possibly. Will the game attract more haters? … ! But we’ve seen all of that before. And we’re still here.
The point is if you want Entropia to survive, if you love this sometimes frustrating but also incredibly beautiful game, then all these changes; AI, New Partners, Newcomers area, Steam and all the other drip-by-drip launches huge steps forward. It deserves the chance to launch on Steam and reach new kinds of gamers. I’m sure there will be negative feedback but that’s where you, as an Entropian ambassador, can help balance the scales. After all, if you’re still here, there’s probably a reason and a wish to see our world grow.
A New Hub To Bring Us All Together
Which brings me to something I’ve been quietly working on for a while now and briefly mentioned last time, EntropiaPlayer. It’s a brand new community hub, independent from MindArk, created by Entropians for Entropians. Let me be clear, this wasn’t created to replace the other forums or sites. It’s here to connect them. To promote services, creators, guides, events, and knowledge across the Universe in one spot. A place to find things if you are a new player, and connect if you’re an oldie. A place to be seen and hopefully, a place to belong.
The forum is already live but I haven’t promoted it yet as a lot is still missing – and pages are being added every day to the main site ‘knowledge base’ too ( Ping me if you’d like to be part of the creation and building. I’m here for you and your wishes – just no naughty ones … Lootius’ watching 😀 )
You can sign up on the forum with Steam, Reddit, Facebook, Google or Twitch – so easy access. And as said, the site is still under construction. But like all good things in Entropia, it starts small and grows with effort, faith, and passionated Entropians.
Anyway, stop panicking. Stop acting like the game you love is being taken from you. It’s not <3 It’s being offered to more people. And if we want this Universe to last another 20 years, we need to start thinking beyond just our own avatars.
Now excuse me while I go polish my Nunhood and welcome the next confused souls in our Universe. I’ll be there with a FAP, a blessing, and a bit of fun as always.
